This is a replica of the bench designed by George Nelson in 1947. Legs are in ash, body of bench in red oak; paint on legs and bench edge is Sherwin Williams Princeton White in gloss. Red oak is finished with Danish Oil.
I built this at The Rivet, an amazing makerspace here in State College, in a class I took from Matt (shout out to my three fabulous classmates!). If I’d know that the wood filler I was using wouldn’t take stain, I might have done something different, but once I’d made that mistake I had to paint the edges. Thought about painting the whole thing but couldn’t bring myself to do that to the wood, so the result is what you see here.
Dimensions: 47.5″ across, 17.5″ deep, 15.5″ high
