White Oak side table with drawer

This is a small side table with a drawer, made as a gift for an aunt. White oak from Alderfer Lumber, legs via Rockler, finish is Rubio Monocoat (as usual). Dimensions 17 x 19.5 x 25.5 high.

The drawer is attached with a keyboard tray; the face of the drawer itself is a continuation of the same piece of wood that makes up the tabletop. My original plan had been to use a miter cut to create a true waterfall effect for the drawer, but playing with the shape of the wood ended up producing a more interesting, rougher shape, and what I ended up seeing as a beautiful line of space between the drawer top and the table.

Through the line you can see the bulky structure of the wood tabletop, so you get this very nice contrast between the delicate and whimsical drawer face and the bulkiness of the top (which is 2 inches thick).

With the drawer open…
